Last week I painted our very chippy Adirondack chairs and wanted to share the finished result with you! First off I purchased these chairs many moons ago at Home Depot for $40 each. Originally, I had stained them teal and eventually painted them white. As the years went on, the white paint began to chip and the chairs looked terrible.. they were in desperate need of TLC.
To prep the chairs for paint, I used a palm sander and sanded off all the chippy paint. Once the sanding was done, I sprayed the chairs down with water to remove all the dust and dirt.
To paint the chairs I knew I wanted to use a paint spray gun as a paintbrush would take too much time and wouldn’t look as great. You can purchase the paint spray gun I used here.
The paint colour I used was Nimbus by Benjamin Moore in the Beauit-Tone Designer Series – Cabinet and Furniture paint. The reason I chose this paint was because I had leftovers from a pervious project and the paint colour and quality were too good not to use.
As of now, I have the chairs placed on our newly painted back deck and I love how they collide nicely with the dark stained deck floor and white railings.
Every morning, Mike and I enjoy our morning coffee sitting on these chairs and we love it.
I hope this post inspires you to update an old piece of furniture and to fall in love with it all over again!
