As many of you know, I have a black accent wall in my living room that I added last year. However, in the Spring, I had our Ikea kitchen painted black and white. So, I now have a lot of black and white going on in our home and I am ready for a change.
Last week, I chose 3 moody colours for my new accent wall, and I asked you to choose your favourite on my Instagram story. The majority vote was Granite Peak by SW which is a moody blue, followed by Retreat by SW, a moody green and last, Oyster Bay by SW, a light sage green. Although, I loved the Granite Peak (blue) I went with Retreat (green) and I am so glad that I did!
With the wall being black, I primed first and added 3 coats of Retreat for a full coverage. This wall gets a lot light, so it needed a solid coat.
To style the wall, I wanted to add a console and use this space as our catch-all as we don’t have a large foyer for a side table.
I layered the console, with a vintage trunk, a lamp, a black mirror, vase of flowers, candles and a tray for our keys. This space feels so welcoming and mature. Mike absolutely loves the wall colour and how it pulls the whole space together, and so do I. The green, is so earthy and welcoming and I am slowing adding more colour into our home. Lately, I have been inspired to have a more “lived in” home and I love adding in lots of textures and layers and now colour into each space.
I hope this post inspires you to add a little colour to your home, especially if you’re in need of a change. I have sourced all the items below.
